Love this and laughed out loud with the Nordstrom’s Cafe reference!! My sister and I always talk about that being our vision of the HEIGHT of fancy because our grandma used to take us and we could eat WHATEVER WE WANTED and she always got iced tea with lemon, and to this DAY putting a sugar packet in an iced tea makes me think of Nordstrom Cafe and the feeling of pretending to be fancy. Thank you for this delightful read!

So beautifully stated. Pirates Booty and Popsicles are completely acceptable- I’ve stopped fighting the kids on this one this summer :)

Katie, thank you! This resonated with me so much! I’m a teacher and live for the summer because I get to be mom all day everyday. It has been so crazy all summer with our schedules packed to the brim with fun. I’m exhausted but wouldn’t trade it for anything!

Your one statement “The thing about summer is that it is just too fun, too full of everything that feels right in the world, to stop.” gave me all the feel goods.

Thanks!

And really, what's wrong with three popsicles for dinner--absolutely nothing, ma'am. Nothing at all.

I love this Katie! We are in the thick of winter here in the southern hemisphere so the summer vibes are much appreciated! Your family photos are wonderfully realistic - definite keepers!

Relatable. This summer mom is tired too! Perhaps it was the Mormon crickets that did me in, or the birthday party with 31 of our closest relatives, or maybe it’s about to be the family wedding this weekend. Too much fun! We ran out of coffee this week. Coffee!!! How??? And the brand my husband emergency bought was horrible. And we’re out of bananas. Clearly my groove has been thrown off 🫠

That’s a level 12 emergency in this house so I hope you were able to remedy the situation quickly 😜

Well, it’s not the preferred brand (how snobby am I?) but it is caffeine…

This was a delight! I laughed and said Me too! Saved the brownie recipe. And also I’m a very emphatic house shoes wear-er.

You have such a beautiful family and YES to perfectly imperfect summer days! I also just self diagnosed myself with plantar fascitis, and my house slides are also helping me through. 🥰

Dansko shoes have helped my plantars fasciitis heal, along with a series of shockwave therapy at the chiropractor. And I splurged on an ice pack specifically built to encapsulate your entire heel, ankle, and foot. Solidarity 🤪
