My mom crossed the Darien Gap with a 3 month old me strapped to her.

And I plan on buying your book—because in the end, it all matters.

(Isn’t it just so wild to see those two worlds converge? And solidarity, sister. I’m overwhelmed, too.)

HOT. DAMN. That is one gorgeous steam of consciousness. Then at the verrrrrry end you hit me hard with "but I’m chasing obedience, not branding." GOD BLESS, Katie! You know, the written word is what God chose to leave us with too-because He knows it matters. Keep writing, Katie. It's changing the world.

WELL THEN. Thank you for writing the thing that so many of us are still trying to figure out how to say. I love you, I love Cannon, and I LOVE THIS BOOK. ❤️ Can't wait to have it in my hands!!!

I paint flowers after my kids go to sleep and try new bread recipes while they’re awake, and it all feels so weird and necessary and useless and vitally important all at once. Thanks for sharing. Felt this in my bones

This popped into my inbox during “desperately seeking distraction” moment in my work day while my brain was trying to organize the ifs, ands, & buts of designing a non-profit that serves marginalized communities and being a wife and blending a family and returning my kid’s doctors referral call and I have to say: Thank You. I’m teary and yet relieved that someone more talented than I could put into words the hamster wheel that intersects Hard & Holy, nihilism, and giving a shit.

Thanks for the moment to breathe and release and feel camaraderie in the chaos. Your words matter, in every form.

Preordered your book last week & can’t wait to have it in our home. Please never ever stop writing, as SOON as your words pop into my inbox they are a must read because, well they help me love my neighbors better. As so many people have said, they are the words I didn’t know how to say & God gave them to you, for you & for us too. 🤍

I love your words and will read anything you write whether it's on or off brand. (Ew gross who wants people to be brands anyway?)

Praying for a lot of that heavy handed justice of the Lord. So well put.

This. I feel this dissonance deeply, too, friend. Also, you just snuck this brilliant line in at the end…”I’m chasing obedience, not branding.” So good.

I felt all these feelings with Left Out (and everything?) and still feel them every day so reading this was more emotional than I thought it'd be. "DOES IT EVEN MATTER" "THIS DOESN'T MATTER" & "THIS REALLY MATTERS" all sit buckled in my backseat 24/7. They shout and they're quiet and it's just life right now. Proud of you, friend.

Also very jealous of your inbox situation because the red bubble on my emails right now is 11,566 and that tells you all you need to know.

My goodness, Katie you continue to inspire the intersection of purpose, passion, and prudence in ways I can’t even figure out how to think about, let alone put words to paper about. There are so many relevant points in your stream, and since I bought the book the moment you announced it (not to overlook that deeply meaningful and honest component of this piece), your “chasing obedience, not branding” when it comes to your writing really struck me. As someone who has a handful of drafts but hasn’t posted anything because I’m not sure what package of content I “should” strive for, you make me reflect on the question, what am I chasing?

Thank you, as always!

I'm so glad I'm not the only one who's brain runs in long streams like this. Also, obedience over branding might be my new motto for all things writing and social media.

Props to you for your resilience in writing! With 3 kids always circling me, I’m finally taking my writing seriously enough to pen it into my calendar. Or at least give it a red label on my Google calendar. Just like feeding my kids who are always starving - writing feeds my soul. I might die without it. Thanks for the encouragement!

Yes and amen to every word. It’s those who don’t feel this dissonance that we should worry about.
